All episodes of DC’s newly animated series, Batman: Caped Crusader, are now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. It means that the review embargo is no longer active for this latest Bruce Timm creation, and you guys can check out the show’s first reactions!
‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ reimagines the Dark Knight mythos, especially focusing on the character’s detective noir side. The series covers popular Batman stories from the 1940s and 1960s taking place in the dark and crime-ridden Gotham City. Hamish Linklater voices the young Bruce Wayne, aka Batman. Unlike the original animated series (1992), Caped Crusader stands out for its moody and grim tone, along with bestowing new interpretations of popular DC characters such as Clayface, Catwoman, Barbara Gordon, Harley Quinn, Penguin and more.
First reactions have praised Batman: Caped Crusader for its creative storytelling, voice performances, animation, Linklater’s performance, the portrayal of Harley Quinn and Penguin, and more. Although, the majority of critics believe that it doesn’t surpass the quality of the original 1992 animated series, but it does stand out as its worthy successor. Additionally, some reviews have criticised the makers’ decision to give only 10 episodes to fans.
The series has a ‘fresh’ rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 39 certified critic reviews. Apart from Hamish Linklater, Caped Crusader stars Jamie Ching (Harley Quinn), Christina Ricci (Catwoman), Diedrich Bader (Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face), Krystal Joy Brown (Barbara Gordon), Jason Watkins (Alfred Pennyworth), Minnie Driver (Oswalda Cobblepot, aka Pengiun), and more.
