BBC original limited series ‘Great Expectations‘ is finally getting a streaming release in India. All six episodes of the much-awaited series will premiere in India on Disney Plus Hotstar on 28th June, 2023. ‘Great Expectations’ will also premiere on Disney Plus in other regions of the world, including Australia and New Zealand. FX original ‘Great Expectations’ premiered on BBC in the UK on 26th March, and on Hulu in the US on the same day.
The new limited series is Academy Award nominee and BAFTA Award-winning writer Steven Knight’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic story from the 1800s. Told in six episodes, ‘Great Expectations’ features a stellar cast of Olivia Colman as Miss Havisham, Fionn Whitehead as central protagonist Pip, and Shalom Brune-Franklin as Estella. Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris, Hayley Squires, Owen McDonnell, Trystan Gravelle, Rudi Dharmalingam, Matt Berry, Tom Sweet, Chloe Lea, Laurie Ogden, among others, make up the rest of the cast.
Charles Dickens’ ‘Great Expectations’ is the coming-of-age story of Pip, an orphan who yearns for a greater lot in life, until a twist of fate and the evil machinations of the mysterious and eccentric Miss Havisham shows him a dark world of possibilities. Under the great expectations placed upon him, Pip will have to work out the true cost of this new world and whether it will truly make him the man he wishes to be.
‘Great Expectations’ is a damning critique of the class system prevalent in England in the 1800s. The series is produced by FX Productions in association with the BBC. It is executive produced by Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott, Dean Baker, David W. Zucker, Kate Crowe and Tommy Bulfin for the BBC.
