New set photos from the ongoing production of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2 have emerged, showing Jenna Ortega wearing a bright pink-coloured wedding dress. On the other hand, we can see Winona Ryder donning gothic attire and a large black dress under her coat.
Beetlejuice 2 marks the return of Micheal Keaton’s Betelgeuse (pronounced as Beetlejuice), Ryder’s Lydia Deetz, and Catherine O’Hara’s Delia Deetz (Lydia’s mother). Ortega will portray Lydia’s daughter in the film. Apart from Ortega, the sequel welcomes Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux, and Willem Dafoe.
As production continues on the forthcoming Beetlejuice sequel, new set photos have surfaced on the internet, thanks to People Magazine.
The sequel’s story is being kept under wraps. Though, the newly released set photos give us an insight into what to expect from the film. Based on the photos mentioned above, it seems like Ortega’s character will have a marriage scene in the film. Beetlejuice attempts to forcefully marry Lydia in the final moments of the original 1988 film in exchange for protecting the Maitlands. A similar scenario could emerge in the sequel. This time, Lydia’s daughter could find herself on the verge of a forceful marriage.
Ortega’s character in Beetlejuice 2 seemingly looks different from Wednesday Addams, notorious for her stoic and sullen personality. It seems like the actor will play a normalized character in the sequel, indicating a significant dynamic shift from her last collaboration with Burton, Netflix’s Wednesday. Her character seems to have a vibrant persona in the film. If this turns out to be true, it would be an intriguing reversal of the dynamic between Ortega’s Wednesday and her best friend and roommate, Enid (played by Emma Myers), who is prominent for her energetic and colourful persona.
This scenario will also allow Jenna Ortega to display her acting range, probably saving her from becoming the victim of typecasting. The actor has displayed her impressive acting abilities in Scream (2022) and its sequel, Scream VI (2023). She also starred alongside Mia Goth in Ti West’s X (2022).
Helmed by Tim Burton, Beetlejuice 2, starring Jenna Ortega, will come out in theatres globally on September 6, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
