Bengal Producers Urge For More Screens Amongst Adipurush Buzz!

Producer Rana Sarkar and few others have complained about the unavailability of screens for the upcoming Bengali films owing to distributors not allowing Bengali films to have enough screens.

Koushik Ganguly’s ‘Ardhangini’ starring Jaya Ahsan and Churni Ganguly had its theatrical release just a few days back and in the meantime, the film was denied screens at many places. Koushik Ganguly is one of the best storytellers of the industry and such partiality is doing huge harm to Bengali cinema. Adipurush is all set to release and producers are complaining that there is no free slot to screen their films in theaters and it has become difficult to even release their films. Rana Sarkar has spoken against the malpractice of producers and distributors of Bollywood and South Indian film industries threatening and convincing Multiplex owners and single screen theater owners to not give the Bengali movies enough screens, making it difficult to make any profit. And this is not the first time this has happened.

Removing a film when a film is not working is good enough but at least the films and filmmakers should have a chance to reach the expected audiences. The buzz and hype for films like Adipurush and so on are reason enough to have them released in a huge number of theaters, but not allowing any other film in any shows of the theater, is downright wrong.

It Happened at the time of ‘Pathaan’ as well and the producers had taken it to Twitter and Facebook to complain about Bollywood producers and distributors playing mafia and not giving even good stories the screens they deserve. When Pathaan was released, Koushik Ganguly’s ‘Kaberi Antordhan Rohosyo’ was running in the theaters and there was an evident partiality when Kaberi Antordhan was denied screens for the very first day.
