31. The Descent: Part 2 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

It’s a sequel to the adeptly executed survival horror film ‘The Descent’ which followed a group of people and their descent into an unexplored cave system where they are encountered by man-eating humanoid creatures.

In the sequel, the sole surviving member of the disastrous cave adventure is forced by the authorities to revisit the horrors of the place when they do not believe the seemingly preposterous story of the blood-drenched terrified woman.

30. Blitz (Streaming on MX Player)

A serial killer is on a killing spree and is targeting officers of the police department in Southeast London for some reason. An investigating officer is sent to track the killer. He teams up with a no-nonsense detective sergeant (Jason Statham) who is infamous for his history of violence. How will the killer get caught when he always seems to be one step ahead of the police?

29. A Lonely Place to Die (Streaming on Zee5)

During a hiking expedition on the Scottish Highlands, a group of five mountaineers are shocked to find a young Serbian girl Anna buried inside a small chamber. The girl cannot speak English. The group rescues the girl only to be pursued by her kidnappers. Amidst the backdrop of difficult terrain, to what extent will the group go to save the girl from the kidnappers and putting their own lives at risk, forms the rest of the film’s story.

After the unfortunate demise of their friend, the remaining four friends decide to go for a hiking trip in Northern Sweden. What was planned to be a bonding trip in the memory of their deceased friend, turns out to be their worst nightmare and a matter of life and death. As they venture deeper into the mysterious woods, they realize they are being chased by an ancient entity. Will they be able to find a way to exit the forest and escape the killer creature?

27. Requiem (Streaming on Netflix)

The supernatural thriller mini-series follows the story of an Award-winning cellist (cello player) Matilda Grey. When Matilda’s mother commits suicide apparently without any good reason, the grief-stricken daughter finds a connection of a 23-year-old missing child’s case with her own mother.

She decides to investigate the mystery by visiting the Welsh village where the incident occurred, only to uncover unimaginable secrets related to her.

26. The Awakening (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

Florence Cathcart (Rebecca Hall) specializes in exposing hoaxes and helps the police catch these fraudsters in the post-World-War-I era. She is requested by a teacher (Dominic West) from an orphan boys’ boarding school in Cumbria to investigate a recent killing that he thinks might be related to a child’s ghost.

Reluctant at first, Florence later accepts the man’s request owing to her own experience as an orphan. As she commences her investigation after her arrival at the school, she experiences some supernatural phenomenon that seems to be beyond her understanding and beliefs.

A spirited American traveler Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio) on an adventure trip to Thailand somehow gets to know about a secret island. The idea instantly attracts his attention, and he decides to undertake a journey to discover the veracity of the so-called hidden paradise.

Accompanying him in his adventurous journey is a French couple Francoise and Etienne. Watch the film to know whether such an island existed or not and, if yes, whether the protagonist will be able to find it.

Two childhood friends Marcus and Vaughn decide to go for a weekend hunting trip to the secluded Scottish Highlands. On their arrival, they meet the village community leader and have a brief romantic encounter with two local girls. Thereafter, an unfortunate incident forces the duo to hatch an escape plan. As a result, they are on the run from the village community.

A well-respected surgeon (played by Colin Farrell) sympathizes with a fatherless teenager and welcomes the boy into his affluent family. As the orphaned boy begins to interact with the family members, some mysterious and disturbing revelations about his past relationship with the family are revealed.

Suddenly, the family is plagued by a seemingly irremediable misery. The surgeon is eventually forced to make a virtually impossible decision to put an end to the family’s unending misery.

22. Behind Her Eyes (Streaming on Netflix)

The psychological thriller web-series follows the story of a single mother Louis, who falls in love with his boss – the psychologist Dr. David Ferguson. In an interesting turn of events, Louis concurrently forms an unlikely bond with his boss’s wife Adele. However, there is more to the seemingly straightforward love triangle than meets the eye.

21. Sunshine (Streaming on Google Play & YouTube)

This science-fiction thriller was helmed by ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ director Danny Boyle. It revolves around a group of international astronauts who are sent on a critical mission in the year 2057 to revitalize the dying Sun through a stellar bomb device.

Humanity’s future depends on the mission that can save the freezing Earth. However, not all goes well in their do-or-die mission to save their planet as they encounter unanticipated and life-threatening obstacles. The film featured acclaimed actors like Cillian Murphy and Chris Evans, amongst others.

‘Golden Eye’ marked the debut of Pierce Brosnan as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. The film was helmed by Martin Campbell, who later on also directed Daniel Craig in his first Bond film ‘Casino Royale’.

When a space-based weapon system called GoldenEye falls into the hands of a dangerous man fuelled by vengeance, it is up to the globe-trotting agent James Bond to stop a Russian crime syndicate from acquiring the Soviet-era weapon GoldenEye. But this time, he must face a formidable enemy who knows him better than anyone else.

The television series revolves around a widowed pediatric surgeon (Michael C. Hall) whose wife died a year ago due to cancer. When one of his teenage daughters goes missing after a house party and does not return, he begins to investigate her disappearance in his neighborhood.

All his efforts lead to more questions than answers as he experiences a maze of lies and terrible secrets about the people he thinks he knows.

When a London-based cocaine dealer (Daniel Craig) with a reputation plans to leave the drug business, he is given two difficult tasks to complete. One is to find the kidnapped daughter of his boss’s friend. The second tough mission is to administer the purchase of a high-value shipment of one million ecstasy tablets from a drug dealer.

As he tries to complete the assignments, he goes through a web of lies and unexpected betrayals. Whether or not will the protagonist be able to complete the mission and permanently retire as planned, forms the rest of the film’s plotline.

The mini-series is based on Harlan Coben’s mystery novel of the same name. The seemingly perfect married life of Adam Price (Richard Armitage) turns upside down when a stranger tells him a shocking secret about his wife and family.

Later, he confronts his wife to find the truth, but she disappears shortly. And thereafter begins a spate of surprising revelations and more secrets are revealed, as Adam inches closer to find out the fact about his wife’s disappearance.

When an undercover agent is killed by a terrorist group, an Army Colonel (Helen Mirren) undertakes a covert mission to capture/eliminate three high-level terrorist leaders of the group located in Kenya. She requests Steve Watts (Aaron Paul) to prepare for a precision drone attack to kill the targets.

As he remotely controls an unmanned plane to make the kill strike, he observes that a young girl is near the line of fire and delays the attack. The team weighs the pros and cons of the estimated collateral damage and the risk of letting the terrorists escape.

15. From Russia with Love (Steaming on YouTube & Google Play)

The film was acting legend Sean Connery’s second outing as the daredevil devil agent 007 James Bond. The film follows the adventures of James Bond’s mission in Istanbul to get hold of a Russian encryption device. However, unbeknown to 007, it may be a trap by the evil organization SPECTRE to avenge the death of their agent Dr. No. On his trail are a former KGB agent and a formidable assassin who have a secret mission of their own.

14. Criminal: UK (Streaming on Netflix)

The goings-on of the police procedural anthology thriller takes place in a police interrogation room. Each episode of the series presents a different criminal case where the suspect and the police officers play mind-games with each other.

In a race against time, the cops must interrogate the suspects to ascertain the truth about whether they are guilty or innocent. Criminal: UK spanned two seasons totaling seven episodes. ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Kit Harington appeared as a suspect in Season 2 of the show.

13. Baby Driver (Streaming on Netflix)

This Edgar Wright’s directorial film follows the story of the music-loving but partially hearing-impaired titular character (played by Ansel Elgort), who is an orphan. He works as a getaway driver for a criminal named Doc (Kevin Spacey).

Just when he thought that he is freed from an unwanted criminal life, Doc coerces Baby to help him execute one last job. He reluctantly accepts the mission with the dream of eventually starting a romantic relationship with his love interest. But he is forced to work with a reckless team and gets more than what he had bargained for.

12. The Serpent (Streaming on Netflix)

The series is based on the life of the notorious French Indian serial killer Charles Shobhraj. Set in the 1970s, the series follows the charming fraudster’s life as a gem dealer in Bangkok, Thailand. He got the name ‘The Serpent’ owing to his snake-like trait in how he averted detection by authorities for his criminal deeds.

But when a Dutch diplomat begins to investigate the killings of tourists, the clues point towards Charles Shobhraj. The titular role was essayed by Tahar Rahim in the series that was directed by Tom Shankland and Hans Herbots.

11. Goldfinger (Streaming on Google Play & YouTube)

James Bond (Sean Connery) is sent to investigate a gold-obsessed tycoon Auric Goldfinger. As Bond delves deeper into the gold smuggling case, he discovers Goldfinger’s nefarious scheme called Operation Grand Slam whose motive is to contaminate the gold reserve of Fort Knox and eventually destroy the Western economy. Bond must stop the gold magnate and yet again save the world from an impending disaster.

After several futile attempts to assassinate the French President Charles de Gaulle, a paramilitary organization called OAS resorts to hire a meticulous, professional assassin nicknamed ‘Jackal’.

The hitman methodically makes a plan to kill his next target and eliminates the people who he thinks are weak links between him and his next high-profile target. On the other side, a reputed police detective is assigned the case to track the assassin. But the killer always seems to be one step ahead.

9. Giri/Haji (Streaming on Netflix)

The television series follows a Japanese detective Kenzo Mori who travels to London in search of his younger brother Yuto. It is learned that Yuko was accused of murdering the nephew of a member of the organized crime syndicate called Yakuza.

The protagonist Kenzo does not know whether his brother is actually guilty of committing the crime or not, or if he is even alive. His investigation brings him closer to the underbelly of London.

8. The Night Manager (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

In this television mini-series, the titular character Jonathan Pine (played by Tom Hiddleston) is a former British soldier who works as a night manager at a luxury hotel in Cairo.

Through his relationship with a local girl, he comes across sensitive information regarding the illegal arms trade that links to a businessman named Richard Roper (played by Hugh Laurie of ‘House’ fame). Four years later, he has moved to Switzerland where the hotel he works in, is visited by none other than Richard Roper.

7. Bodyguard (Streaming on Netflix)

The political thriller series revolves around a war veteran (Richard Madden) suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. He is committed to his job as a Specialist Protection Officer at the London Metropolitan Police Service.

The bodyguard is assigned to protect an ambitious politician (Keeley Hawes) whom he dislikes. Will or will not his personal beliefs affect him in performing his protection duties broadly forms the rest of the series’ plot.

6. Killing Eve (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

The spy thriller series follows a bright intelligence operative Eve Polastri (played by Sandra Oh) who is bored and discontented with her desk-bound job.

Her dream of becoming a real spy comes true when she is assigned a secret mission to chase a deadly female assassin called Villanelle (Jodie Comer). The phrase ‘opposites attract’ holds true for them as the two women on the different sides of the law start getting obsessed with each other.

This movie was Guy Ritchie’s feature film directorial debut and instantly marked his arrival as a talented filmmaker to look forward to.

The story follows a group of four friends who lose a high stakes card game to a local criminal after which they owe him a whopping 500,000 pounds. With just a week left to pay the crime boss, the group hatches a high-risk plan to steal from a minor gang who happen to be their neighbors.

In the series, the titular character Luther is a brilliant but troubled cop (Idris Alba) who usually investigates serial killings. He is a cop who does not always solve his cases by the book but gets results.

His unconventional ways are not quite liked by his department. As the series begins, the hardened cop finds his formidable adversary in a psychopath murderer Alice Morgan. Luther’s complicated relationship with Alice evolves during the series.

3. Line of Duty (Streaming on Netflix)

The series follows a British Police Officer Steven Arnott (Martin Compston), who is transferred to an anti-corruption unit known as AC-12, following a botched-up operation that killed an innocent person instead of a terrorist.

He teams up with a proficient undercover officer Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) to investigate corruption within the police department. Together, they deal with corrupt cops and learn about their nexus with criminal groups including drug business, human trafficking, etc.

The series, set in 1900s Birmingham (England), takes place after the event of the first World War. It follows the story of the titular gang that is fiercely led by Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy). On the trail of the ambitious and ruthless gangster of the Shelby family, is the chief inspector Chester Campbell (Sam Neill), who is entrusted with getting rid of the criminal activities in the city of Birmingham.
