Best Foreign Shows Released on Prime Video in First Half Of 2022

We have crossed the end of the first half of 2022, and it’s definitely been an exciting year so far for OTT viewers. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top foreign Amazon original series (in no particular order) which were released on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform from the months of January to June 2022.

Reacher

The eight-part opening season of the show is based on Lee Child’s debut book on Jack Reacher – Killing Floor. It features Alan Ritchson as a 6 feet 5 former military investigator/tracker Jack Reacher who arrives in Margrave and is immediately arrested for a crime he did not commit. He must use his unique skills and wit to get to the bottom of what’s happening in Margrave.

The Boys Season-3

A satirical take on one of the most popular comic-book superheroes, the show is set in a world where superheroes are adored by people. They are being managed by a corrupt, multi-billion-dollar organization named Vought. The plot follows another group of titular vigilantes ‘The Boys’, who are hellbent on destroying those superheroes who abuse their superpowers. The ragtag team is led by the disgruntled Billy Butcher who is after Vought’s most powerful superhero team ‘The Seven’ led by the indestructible megalomaniac Homelander.

The Legend of Vox Machina

The action-adventure animated series revolves around a group of money-minded misfit Vox Machina mercenaries who realize that only they are capable of saving the Exandria realm from evil elements.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season-4

The period dramedy series set in 1950s Manhattan features Rachel Brosnahan as an energetic and talented New York housewife Miriam “Midge” Maisel whose life takes an unexpected turn after her husband suddenly leaves her. That’s when she brings out her hidden talent as a stand-up comic and things begin to change for her. The fourth season is ostensibly set in the 1960s period.

Upload Season-2

Set in the near future, the science fiction show follows the story of a deceased computer programmer Nathan who is uploaded by his living girlfriend to an elite virtual afterlife program called Lake View. Nathan is trying to adjust to his new post-death digital life where he falls for his customer service rep Nora.

The Terminal List

The action thriller series is based on a book (series) written by former Navy SEAL Jack Carr. The first book of the series was ‘The Terminal List’ while the other three being ‘True Believer’, ‘Savage Son’ and ‘The Devil’s Hand’. The plot revolves around a Navy SEAL, who uses his unique warfare skills to avenge the deaths of his loved ones. Chris Pratt would be essaying the role of the protagonist – Navy SEAL James Reece.

The Wilds Season-2

Narrated in different timelines, the opening season of the mystery drama show follows a group of teenage girls from different walks of life who are stranded on a secluded island following a plane crash. However, it is eventually revealed that there is a deeper mystery behind the crash than it’s apparent. The second season drives the story forward by introducing new elements and a new island to the show.

Outer Range

The eight-episode mystery thriller Western series revolves around a Wyoming-based rancher Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), who is fighting for his land. He meets a drifter named Autumn (Imogen Poots) after which he gets involved in a supernatural happening related to his ranch.

Undone Season-2

The animated psychological drama features a Mexican American woman named Alma (Rosa Salazar) who learns about her unique ability to manipulate time after almost dying in a car accident. She uses her newly found ability to know the truth relating to her father’s death. The second season would continue Alma’s story arc and her quest to probe into the mystery surrounding her family’s past.

Night Sky

The science fiction series features veteran actor J.K. Simmons as an ex-woodworker named Franklin and Sissy Spacek as a teacher and Franklin’s wife Irene. The eight-part show’s story revolves around the couple’s astounding discovery about a mysterious portal buried in their backyard which leads to a secluded planet. The goings-on take an eye-opening turn for the couple and challenge their knowledge about the portal when a young man enters their lives.

The Summer I Turned Pretty

The romantic drama series is based on the first novel of Jenny Han’s bestselling book trilogy of the same name. The plot revolves around the love triangle between Belly and her friends – the two brothers Jeremiah and Conrad while they reunite at a beach house.

The Kids in the Hall Season 6

The eight-part first Canadian Amazon original series marks the revival of the popular sketch comedy show and will feature the comeback of the original ‘Kids’. The show is a follow-up to the series which spanned five seasons, that aired in the 1980s and 90s.

Bosch: Legacy

Based on Michael Connelly’s book ‘The Wrong Side of Goodbye’, the police procedural show revolves around the titular character Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), a former LAPD detective who is now a private investigator.
