Best Reviewed Telugu Film of 2022: RRR, Sita Ramam or Major?

Like other film industries in India, the year 2022 has been an exciting year for the Tamil film industry as well. The massive worldwide success of S.S. Rajamouli’s action extravaganza ‘RRR’ further raised the bar for Indian cinema, for foreign, and more particularly for American audiences.

But despite all its theatrical and streaming success on Netflix globally, did ‘RRR’ manage to become the best reviewed Telugu language film in 2022? Because besides ‘RRR’, we witnessed the release of some other admired films such as ‘Sita Ramam’, ‘Karthikeya 2’, and ‘Major’ (we have included it since it’s bilingual – Telugu & Hindi), amongst others. Although all these films have their own fan following, we were still curious to know which one has been the best reviewed Telugu film of the year 2022. So, let’s find out.

For this article, we have considered average review scores from Google reviews and IMDb for these Telugu films. And we have taken the average ratings to arrive at the net review scores to find out the best reviewed Telugu film of 2022.

Movie Name Google Rating IMDb Rating Average Rating
Sita Ramam 4.9/5 8.6/10 9.2/10
Major 4.9/5 8.2/10 9/10
Karthikeya 2 4.8/5 7.9/10 8.75/10
RRR 4.7/5 7.9/10 8.65/10
Oke Oka Jeevitham 4.7/5 7.9/10 8.65/10
Ante Sundaraniki! 4.5/5 7.6/10 8.3/10
Bimbisara 4.8/5 6.5/10 8.05/10
Godfather 4.4/5 5.4/10 7.1/10

So, as per the above reviews analysis, ‘RRR’ has not received the best reviews on Google and IMDb, but it’s the widely acclaimed romantic drama ‘Sita Ramam’ which has beaten ‘RRR’ and other films to become the best reviewed Telugu film of 2022.

In second place on this list is Adivi Sesh starrer ‘Major’. In third and fourth places are the action-adventure film ‘Karthikeya 2’ and ‘RRR’, respectively. In fact, the sci-fi drama ‘Oke Oka Jeevitham’ holds the same score as ‘RRR’.

Having said that, reviews from IMDb and Google are obviously not a sure shot way to ascertain a movie’s quality and its overall entertainment quotient. Because that’s subjective. Nevertheless, Sita Ramam has its heart in the right place and has managed to strike a chord with myriad viewers worldwide. Full credit to the makers for that.
