Eddie Murphy, who plays Axel Foley, has given an exciting update about Beverly Hills Cop. His upcoming project, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, is all set to arrive on Netflix on July 3. This fourth film in the series aims to revitalize the franchise, hopefully surpassing the reception of the third movie released nearly 30 years ago. It seems Netflix, Murphy, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are determined to breathe new life into Beverly Hills Cop with Axel F.
In his recent interview with Variety, Murphy spoke in detail about Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. The actor and comedian also revealed that he and Bruckheimer are planning to come up with a new story for the fifth film. This is what he said:
“They’re developing it. It if comes together, we’ll be doing another one.”
“We have a couple of stories in mind,” added Bruckheimer.
Axel F follows Axel Foley (Murphy) returning to Beverly Hills to save his daughter from a dangerous threat. Fans will also witness the popular character reuniting with some old co-stars and facing plenty of corrupt cops.
Bruckheimer has successfully rejuvenated prominent franchises like “Bad Boys” and “Top Gun.” The former franchise’s latest entry, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, has performed well at the global box office, earning over $230 million so far against a $100 million budget. While, Top Gun: Maverick (2022) minted nearly $1.5 billion worldwide. Now, Bruckheimer looks to rejuvenate the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F stars Eddie Murphy, Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Taylour Paige, and Bronson Pinchot. Stay tuned for more updates.
