Siva Karthikeyan’s Ayalaan is experiencing notable success at the box office. Directed by R. Ravikumar, renowned for Indru Netru Nalai, the sci-fi film faced a clash with Dhanush’s Captain Miller. Originally scheduled for a Sankranthi release, the Telugu version opted for a Republic Day launch on January 26. Ganga Entertainments presents this Telugu rendition of the Siva Karthikeyan starrer, adding an interesting twist to the competition as it contends with the Telugu version of Dhanush’s Captain Miller, slated for a January 25 release.
Produced by Kotapadi J Rajesh under KJR Studios, Ayalaan features Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead, with Sharad Kelkar, Bhanu Priya, and Yogi Babu in crucial roles. ‘Ayalaan’ hit theaters on January 12 after a prolonged five-year wait (Well, this movie surely had a good entrance after a cosmic hiatus!). The science fiction film earned well-deserved acclaim, making an impressive debut with positive responses on its opening day.
Targeting a family audience, especially children, ‘Ayalaan’ experienced a significant surge in popularity, particularly on Pongal Day (Jan 15). Tamil Nadu contributed substantially to the film’s collections, with family audiences choosing to celebrate Pongal with ‘Ayalaan,’ leading to an average occupancy of 85% in the state. The four-day global collection for ‘Ayalaan’ exceeded Rs 50 crores, as officially confirmed by the makers through a new poster. In Tamil Nadu alone, ‘Ayalaan’ reportedly grossed around Rs 25 crore in 4 days, setting the stage for a competitive battle with Dhanush’s ‘Captain Miller.’
