Beyonder May Replace Kang The Conqueror As The Next Big Villain In MCU

2023 has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for Marvel Studios. In the films department, the studio opened the account with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and The Marvels. Except for James Gunn’s last GOTG project (which earned over $840 million globally), the remaining ones bombed in terms of both critical and commercial reception. When it comes to television, Secret Invasion turned out to be a disaster. But thanks to Loki Season 2 and What If…? Season 2, they restored fans’ faith in the MCU. In addition, Marvel endured some big BTS setbacks this year, including Jonathan Majors’ firing. Many believe that the studio may find the actor’s replacement for the role of Kang the Conqueror. On the other hand, some reports have revealed that Marvel plans to replace Kang with Beyonder to conclude The Multiverse Saga.

Marvel had big and ambitious plans for Kang. But the studio can’t implement them now as Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of harassment and third-degree assault on his former girlfriend recently, resulting in his immediate exclusion from the MCU.

One of the most prominent scoopers, MyTimeToShineHello, has revealed that Beyonder will be the primary antagonist in Avengers: Secret Wars via his official X (Twitter) account.

It makes sense why Marvel Studios have shifted their attention towards Beyonder, as we cannot imagine a Secret Wars film without the Beyonder. In the comics, the character belonged to an ancient race, the Beyonder race. Known for his powerful abilities and childlike persona, the character spent most of his life in a universe created by other Beyonders. He observed Earth for a long time and became fascinated by the human beings residing inside the planet (Earth-616). Soon, he creates the Battleworld, a small planet in a distant galaxy, and teleports many supervillains and superheroes on that planet to fight against one another (Jim Shooter’s iconic 1984 Secret Wars comic book series).

The Beyonder’s arrival could mark the live-action debut of another prominent figure in the Marvel universe, Owen Reece, aka the Molecule Man. The incident that gave Reece abilities like omnipotence and controlling matter also created a wormhole between the Beyonder’s dimension and the Earth’s dimension, allowing the Beyonder to keep a close eye on the Earth as well as the Multiverse.

Let’s see how Marvel fits the Beyonder in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stay tuned for more updates.
