BGDC: Show Lost In Marketing & Content Fiasco

Big Girls Don’t Cry. This was the title of the latest Prime Video series which is going unnoticed by the audience. It is a high school drama that is very hard to ignore by the masses. We have a very huge number of students who have the time and patience to watch a series. The reason is that such shows talk about the lives of students and who does not want to watch their story on the screen?

But, the show is not receiving the attention it deserves. It reminds us of the Hotstar show “School Of Lies” on Disney+Hotstar which again failed to impress the audience due to its stale content.

Now, Big Girls Don’t Cry aka BGDC is not a good title at all. They picked it from a 2002 film but what worked in Hollywood may not be tempting for the Indian masses at all. The title means a lot in connecting with the audience and something like BGDC doesn’t convey anything tempting at all. It is indeed a bad decision and the result is pretty evident in the lack of talks and good reviews online.

The next fatal mistake was that of the whole marketing campaign. The show was nowhere near the marketing push of Poacher and that badly affected the talks around the show. This is altogether a very passable show and an average reception that Prime Video can’t afford to have again and again.
