The trailer for acclaimed filmmaker Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Bheed’ is out now and it’s the story of those dark times when borders of disparity divided the people. ‘Bheed’ is set to release in cinemas on 24th March, 2023.
‘Bheed’ trailer begins with PM Narendra Modi’s announcement of the complete nationwide lockdown. At the same time the visuals on screen are of people trying to reach their homes. These people belong mostly to lower strata of society who do menial jobs in big cities.
The imposition of the lockdown forces them to rush to their villages in the lack of any basic livelihood necessities like food, money, shelter and such. ‘Bheed’ tries to show how during those dark times class and caste differences divided the whole nation.
The film explores a police officer’s journey who realises the reality when he sees and experiences it firsthand and takes it upon himself to deliver justice to those needed. ‘Bheed’ also tries to draw comparisons between the partition of India and Pakistan and the lockdown that forced people to move out of what they believe was their home.
‘Bheed’ touches some sensitive issues as well which might lead to controversies later. The film wishes to bring forth all those highlighted as well as unseen and untold stories of a crisis that shook the country.
Written and directed Anubhav Sinha and set during the events of the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown in India, ‘Bheed’ stars Rajkumar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Ashutosh Rana. Kritika Kamra, Pankaj Kapoor, Aditya Srivastava and Virendra Saxena in prominent roles. Other writers for the film include Saumya Tiwari, Sonali Jain and Sapreet Biswal.
