We are all aware of the fact that the upcoming war film ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war of 1971 and follows how bravely IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik reconstructed the IAF Bhuj airbase with the help of 300 women. Yet, not much is known about other interesting aspects of the real-life hero Vijay Karnik.
In a recent interview conducted by noted lyricist Manoj Muntashir (via T-Series) with the legendary Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force Vijay Karnik and film actor Ajay Devgn who is essaying the IAF Squadron Leader’s role in the film, it was revealed that besides being a true patriot, Vijay Karnik is also fond of gardening and playing golf.
Another interesting point that was revealed was about how a person’s overall thought process and personality undergoes a drastic change after going through military training, whose primary aim is to be prepared for war. This notion has a direct connotation with the basic premise of ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ and how a mentally prepared officer can go through unimaginable lengths to achieve victory for his country.
It was further made known by the man himself about the incredible display of bravery by the 300 women who entered the airfield to help him complete the arduous task and how the mission was accomplished without the backup of pilot companies. In the film ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’, Sonakshi Sinha is reportedly playing an important role of one of the women tasked with rebuilding the airway.
Yet another interesting fact that came to the fore was that Vijay Karnik was not even present on the occasion of his engagement as he was urgently called back on national duty. He was later informed on the phone by his family that he has been engaged. This is just a small example of the personal sacrifices that our soldiers make for the sake of the country and its security.
Having already witnessed the acting prowess and immense experience of Ajay Devgn, we are certain that he will effectively be able to essay the role of the illustrious national icon and living legend Vijay Karnik. The actor is of the opinion that such inspiring stories of bravery and sacrifices deserve to reach audiences. And what better than a visually opulent film like ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ starring Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt, amongst other talented cast members.
‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ will start streaming on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform from August 13, 2021, onwards.
