The first look poster of a new Bengali project has been revealed today. It is titled ‘Bhutmukhi’ and will be releasing in November itself. ‘Bhutmukhi’ stars actors like Durbar Sharma, Umesh Ganguly and Shinjinee Chakroborty. Durbar Sharma has impressed audiences with his nuanced performances in Byomkesh, Noshtoneer and has a major role in the upcoming ‘Talmar Romeo Juliet’ too. He can be called a rising star of the Bengali OTT scene.
‘Bhutmukhi’ is written and directed by Rajat Roy and Arunava Mukherjee. With the cast and crew, the prospect looks pretty interesting and Durbar Sharma’s track record is quite good too. And there is no reason not to sell the story to a OTT platform, while there are platforms like Hoichoi and AddaTimes who are putting so much effort for diversified content.
We have seen with ‘Birohi’ too that there is a tendency to release these stories on YouTube rather than on OTT. While there are two big Bengali platforms like Hoichoi and AddaTimes, there are also numerous small ones, like Klikk or Chorki India and these platforms have a dearth of original content too. There is no reason to release these unique regional stories on YouTube when there are platforms that are willing to take them up. However, people are also happy because it will be available to stream for free. Birohi’s huge success had much to do with its availability on YouTube for free.
