Big: ‘God Of War’ Live-Action Series In Works for Prime Video!

Prime Video is wasting no time to give its viewers the best after the latest reports showed that it has dethroned Netflix to be the No.1 streamer in the US. The latest title reportedly commissioned by Prime Video for its increasing viewer base is a live-action adaptation of the hit video game series ‘God Of War’.

The game series originally followed the story of the ex-Spartan warrior Kratos. After he ends up killing his loved ones while being under the influence of Ares, the Greek God of War, the anti-hero goes on a journey to exact his revenge. After killing Ares, Kratos becomes the new God of War. After becoming the ruthless God of War himself, Kratos finds himself constantly looking for a chance to change his fate.

While this is the basic plotline of the games, the series will not be following the early parts of Kratos’ journey. Instead, it is reported to focus on the later part of his story, where we see the game move on from the Greek mythology landscape and delve into that of the equally popular and intriguing Norse mythology.

After exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, we will see Kratos hanging up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard. When his wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son to spread her ashes from the highest peak—his wife’s final wish. It is then that Kratos realizes that the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new Gods and monsters for the fate of the world.

It is to be noted that this is not the only video game that is getting TV series adaptations. Most noteworthy among them would be the upcoming HBO Max original series ‘The Last of Us’, which will premiere on the streamer on January 15 2023. With multiple others like Fallout and Horizon in the works, fans are excited as to how they will translate to on-screen.

The series will be written by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the duo behind ‘Iron Man’. Rafe Judkins who was the showrunner of Prime Video’s ‘ Wheel of Time’ is set to take over as showrunner of the action adventure series.
