South Korean-born American filmmaker Kogonada is renowned for his video essays that analyze the content, form, and structure of various films and television series. His directorial debut in 2017 ‘Columbus’ was followed by a critically acclaimed sci-fi drama ‘After Yang’.
His new directorial project titled ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ already has stars Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell onboard. However, it was recently made official that Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and newcomer Lucy Thomas have also joined the ensemble cast.
Sony Pictures is all set to release the romance film in theaters globally, on a yet-unreleased date. While the plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is described as an expressively imaginative tale of two strangers and the extraordinary emotional journey that connects them.
The feature film will mark a reunion for Turner-Smith, Kogonada, and Farrell, who collaborated for A24’s ‘After Yang’. As for the other upcoming projects of the new cast additions, Rabe will next be seen in David E. Kelley’s ‘Presumed Innocent’ for Apple TV+ alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, and in Michael Cristofer’s feature ‘Places, Please’ opposite Kathy Bates and Pierce Brosnan.
Turner-Smith will be seen starring in roles in the Disney+ Star Wars series ‘The Acolyte’, Apple TV+’s ‘Bad Monkey’, and on ‘Tron: Ares’. Waller-Bridge will next be seen voicing a character in John Krasinski’s animated fantasy comedy ‘If’, and writing Prime Video’s new series for the video game-turned-action movie ‘Tomb Raider’.
