Makers of sensational Indian web shows like ‘Scam 1992’, ‘Criminal Justice’, ‘Undekhi’ and many more, one of India’s leading content studio Applause Entertainment has now joined hands with international creators to develop a ‘Crime Pro-serial Drama’.
Applause Entertainment has collaborated with Sunder Aaron’s Locomotive Global Inc. and international content mavericks Simon Mirren and his partner Benjamin Anderson’s Case Closed Entertainment banner. “Pro-serial” format mentioned above is described by the studio as a term referring to a procedural drama series with some serialized elements in the storylines.
Simon, who is well known for creating, writing, and show running authentic crime procedurals, will utilise his experience to build a creative eco-system that will enable and empower local writers. Post this, both Simon and Ben will work in ongoing collaboration to fully develop and produce the series. All this will be carried on with support from both Applause and Locomotive.
As per Applause, there will first be a dedicated team of writers who will work closely with the team and have an opportunity to explore the creative, visual, technical language and other best practices applied in International procedural dramas.
The first web series under this collaboration is currently in development phase with Simon and Ben experiencing the local process by meeting the judiciary, police experts, crime journalists in India and visiting production facilities.
Mirren has created some iconic shows like ‘Waking The Dead’, ‘Spooks’, ‘Without A Trace’, ‘Versailles’ and the 15 year long run series ‘Criminal Minds’. Case Closed, Simon and his partner Ben’s company, are on-board with Applause & Locomotive to create a pro-serial precinct project. Stay tuned to binged.com for further updates.
