Directed by Mohan Raja, this film is a remake of the Malayalam hit ‘Lucifer’. Off late, we have been seeing a lot of popular Bollywood and South actors and directors collaborating for some blockbuster-in-the-making projects. Indeed, this is a great time for cinema and these pan-India films will only see bigger business and popularity alike for all involved. This move seems to be the new trend these days with more such announcements being made every now and then. Here’s putting together a list of some of the top most anticipated collabs to look out for in the near future.
1. RRR
Director SS Rajamouli’s upcoming Telegu period action drama will feature Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn along with Ram Charan and Jr. NTR. This pan-India film marks the ‘Baahubali’ director’s first collaboration with both Bollywood actors.
2. Thalaivii
Directed by AL Vijay, ‘Thalaivii’, a biopic on late actress-turned-politician Jayalalithaa, is a multi-lingual, pan-India film to be released in theaters on 10th September. The film stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead alongwith Arvind Swami, Madhoo and Bhagyashree.
3. Adipurush
This Om Raut directed magnum opus period drama based on the ‘Ramayana’ starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in the lead, is another much-anticipated pan-India film being shot on a budget of a whopping 500 crores!
4. Atlee’s Next
The Kollywood director’s next ambitious pan-India project stars Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara in the lead is all set to go on floors. This collaboration with the reigning superstars from both industries is certainly one to watch out for.
5. Project K
Director Nag Ashwin’s next film features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. Though Big B has worked with South directors in the past, it is Deepika’s first time working with a filmmaker from the South.
6. Liger
Liger is an upcoming sports action film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced in collaboration with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Featuring Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda in the lead, this will be a pan-India film and marks young Ananya’s first project with a director from the South Indian film industry.
7. ‘Sunny’
Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi and Raashii Khanna star in this upcoming Amazon Prime Video web series to be helmed by director-duo Raj & DK. The action-thriller show is currently being filmed and features Kapoor as the protagonist and Sethupathi as the antagonist.
8. Laal Singh Chaddha
This Advait Chandan directorial marks the Bollywood debut of Telugu star Naga Chaitanya and is another big association between Bollywood and the southern film industries. The film starring Aamir in the lead, with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in pivotal roles, is an official remake of the 1994 Hollywood classic ‘Forrest Gump’.
9. ‘Vikram Vedha‘ Remake
The epic 2017 Tamil blockbuster’s Bollywood remake features Saif Ali Khan (as Vikram) and Hrithik Roshan (as Vedha) in the lead, this film too, will be directed by Gayatri and Pushkar, who helmed the original crime-action film. The cast also includes Radhika Apte and Rohit Saraf (of ‘Ludo’ & ‘Mismatched’ fame) and is indeed one to look out for.
10. R Balki’s Next
The ‘Paa’ director’s recently announced next movie is a thriller drama featuring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, along with Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwanthary (of ‘Scam 1992’ fame). The casting is complete and the film is expected to go on floors soon.
11. Animal
‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Arjun Reddy’ fame director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming action thriller ‘Animal’ will feature Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra in the lead. This father-son angsty action film is all set to release on Dussehra next year.
12. ‘Anniyan’ Remake
Filmmaker Shankar’s Bollywood remake of Tamil psychological thriller ‘Anniyan’ stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, reprising the role of actor Vikram. The recently announced movie may mostly see Kiara Advani as the female lead.
