After years of planning and change of directors and actors, it seems that the 1994 supernatural superhero revenge thriller ‘The Crow’ reboot is finally taking a concrete shape. Swedish actor Bill Skarsgard, who is well known for essaying the role of Pennywise in the horror flick ‘It’, has reportedly (via THR) been roped in to play the lead role in the ‘The Crow’ reboot. While Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the Shell) has been brought in to direct the film.
The parent film ‘The Crow’ was based on James O’ Barr’s 1980s comic book of the same name and starred Late actor Brandon Lee as Eric Draven aka the titular protagonist ‘The Crow’. The film’s plot revolves around a guitarist, who is brutally murdered along with his fiancée, by a violent gang. Later, the man is resurrected by a crow and exacts fitting revenge on each gang member who was responsible for their deaths.
The script for ‘The Crow’ reboot has been penned by Zach Baylin, who was nominated for the Will Smith starrer biographical sports drama ‘King Richard’ in the ‘Best Original Screenplay’ category. Armed with a budget of $50 million, ‘The Crow’ reboot is currently under the pre-production stage, and filming is expected to commence later this year in June in Prague and Munich.
‘The Crow’ reboot movie should be an exciting piece of news for fans of the parent film as it had received widespread admiration after its release and eventually gained a cult following. It currently holds an impressive critics score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 60 reviews. While the film boasts an IMDb user rating of 7.5/10 based on around 179k votes.
