Bill Skarsgard’s The Crow reboot has found a release date. As per Deadline, Lionsgate has given Ballerina’s release window to The Crow. The theatrical release of the highly anticipated John Wick spinoff, starring Ana de Armas, has been pushed back a year.
According to Deadline, The Crow’s reboot will arrive in theatres worldwide on June 7, 2024. On the other hand, Ballerina will get a theatrical release on June 6, 2025.
The Crow, the reboot of the 1994 cult classic, revolves around Eric Draven (played by Bill Skarsgard), who returns from the dead to take revenge on those who brutally murdered him and Shelly, his fiancee, on the night before their wedding. FKA Twigs will portray Shelly in the upcoming remake.
The original 1994 film had the late Brandon Lee as the titular character. Its production suffered a major setback after Lee’s tragic death, who died due to a fatal wound by a prop gun during the film’s shooting. Lee’s shocking demise resulted in a huge controversy, forcing Paramount Pictures to opt out of the film’s distribution. Later, Miramax Pictures picked up the movie’s rights. Apart from Brandon Lee, the film starred Ernie Hudson and Michael Wincott. It turned out to be a critical and commercial success, earning $94 million against its $23 million budget. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a ‘fresh’ score of 84%, based on 61 reviews.
Now, let’s turn our attention to the forthcoming ‘The Crow’ reboot again. In addition to Bill Skarsgard, the project stars Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Isabella Wei, and Jordan Bolger. Rupert Sanders co-wrote the screenplay with Will Schneider. Stay tuned for more updates.
