Billie Piper, the BAFTA nominated English actress will be starring in the series adaptation of “Coming Undone”, the biography of the former Empire magazine editor-in-chief Terri White. She has given some outstanding performances over the years on screen- from “Doctor Who” to “Secret Diary Of A Call Girl” to “Penny Dreadful.” According to the reports of Deadline, this project is currently in development at Netflix, and it will be optioned by Sony-backed Bad Wolf, ( the producers behind “His Dark Materials” and “A Discovery Of Witches.” ) Piper will star in the leading role.
Terri White will be adapting the book for the screen herself, which was published in 2020 by Canongate, and Piper will be the executive producer. Seems like the combination of these creative talents will produce a deadly impact on screen.
“Coming Undone” will showcase White’s poverty stricken childhood days, her experiences of abuse in the hands of her mother’s partners. It will also depict the clash that she faced while balancing the professional achievements and the personal trauma that resulted in decline of her mental health ultimately leading her to spend her days on a psychiatric ward.
White was a british journalist, editor and author. She was the editor-in-chief of Empire magazine and Time Out in New York.
