With almost all of DCEU’s big releases postponed to next year, the only film we will get to see in theatres in the remaining of 2022 will be ‘Black Adam‘. Warner Bros are extensively marketing the movie starring Dwayne Johnson and the hype is unreal. And adding to that, according to fans, is the return of Henry Cavill as Superman.
While it is not yet official, Dwayne seems to be teasing it quite a lot. Look at this post for instance:
It seems like another promotion post for a normal viewer, but any DC will tell you the tease in the post. Black Adam may be unstoppable to anyone or anything on this planet, but guess who is NOT from this planet? The alien Kal-El popularly known as Superman.
The last time we saw Henry Cavill play the caped crusader was in 2017’s box office disappointment ‘Justice League’. Now as per reports, we will get to see Superman in ‘Black Adam’ as well. Even bigger news for Indian fans, we get to see him a day before the rest of the world with the movie releasing a day before, i.e. on Oct 20th in India. And this is not the first post that has fans guessing. If Dwayne has successfully gotten Henry to do an appearance, fans will be in for the perfect treat in the theatres. With Black Adam and Superman having sparred against each other in comics, the appearance is all but certain according to fans.
‘Black Adam’ on the other side does have a lot at stake. The movie is said to mark a new era for the DCEU. While the DCEU has had hits here and there with ‘Joker’ and ‘The Batman’, these were not related to the main timeline, but standalone stories. All eyes are now on the ‘Black Adam’ and Dwayne seems confident the movie will deliver. Star Noah Centenio in an interview said the movie may have one of the highest body counts in a superhero movie ever, which blew the internet, especially since the scale of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is still fresh in our minds. The movie will officially feature besides Noah as Atom Smasher, also Hawkman, Cyclone, and fan favorite Doctor Fate. Add to that the return of Henry as Superman? This is how you make a superhero experience for the big screen.
