Hot news! Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Chris Evans (Captain America) are all set to star in a fresh film titled “Project Artemis”. ” Ozark” star and director Jason Bateman is attached to direct. And Apple has flushed out around $100M for the deal.
However no details regarding the plot have been divulged yet. Sources hint towards the premise being set against space race. Daughter of writer-director Dan Gilroy and actress René Russo, Rose Gilroy pens the script. Scarlett Johansson will also produce through These Pictures production company, joined by Jason Bateman who will produce via his Aggregate Films banner.
Chris Evans has also confirmed the hot news off Deadline’s boat on Twitter:
This marks a massive buy for Apple following a $200M deal they closed for the Matthew Vaughn film ” Argyle ” and the untitled F1 racing film starring Brad Pitt.
Evans and Johansson have been looking for possible projects to collaborate on following their Avengers Swan Song but nothing worked as such. They almost collaborated in “Ghosted” , from Apple again until it fell through due to Johansson’s scheduling conflicts. Ana de Armas stepped in to fill her shoes later. While that film is currently being filmed, everything luckily worked out with this film and we can finally see good friends and our dearest Black Widow and Captain America teaming up again.
Scarlett Johansson also has Bride, which she stars in and produces with Apple. The film is helmed by Oscar-winning director Sebastián Lelio. Scarlett Johansson also has upcoming releases in Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City” while Evans has Pixar’s “Lightyear” and the Russo Brothers’ “The Gray Man” up and coming next. Potentially dropping Martin Scorsese’s “Killer’s Of The Flower Moon” and Taron Egerton starrer “Tetris,” Apple is playing a gargantuan game to win fresh off it’s Oscar win with Coda this year.
Bateman’s Aggregate’s release slate includes FX’s “A Teacher” and limited series “Under The Banner Of Heaven”; “Florida Man” for Netflix; Lessons In Chemistry for Apple; and the Netflix feature “Your Place Or Mine”. Ozark’s second half of the finale streams this April.
