Black Widows: ZEE5 Show Bags This Award At 21st ITA Awards

Birsa Dasgupta‘s ZEE5 dark comedy series, Black Widows, leaves everyone spellbound after bagging the award for Best Screenplay at the 21st edition of the Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards. It served as the official Indian remake of 2014’s Finnish show, Mustat Lesket. This series got dispatched in December 2020 via the streaming platform and received mixed-to-positive critical reception.

The show’s plot revolves around the trio of female friends: Veera (Mona Singh), Kavita (Shamita Shetty), and Jayati (Swastika Mukherjee). All these beautiful ladies suffer from miserable lives as their respective husbands are not good enough for them and treat them harshly. After enduring a lot of bitterness, these women decide to get rid of their horrible husbands and get out of their pathetic wed-locked lives for good.

Apart from the ZEE5 show, some prominent Indian Television performers also managed to get their hands on big ITA Awards. For example, Harshad Chopda bagged the Best Actor (Popular), Nakul Mehta won the Best Actor (Critics) and Sudhanshu Pandey grabbed the Best Actor (Drama). Anupama received the award for the Best Show (Popular).

Black Widows has a jam-packed cast consisting of acting talents like Mona Singh, Shamita Shetty, Swastika Mukherjee, Sharad Kelkar, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Aamir Ali, Mohan Kapoor, and Raima Sen. Namit Sharma served as the main producer of the show under the banner of Big Synergy Media Ltd. On the other hand, Birsa Dasgupta sat on the director’s chair for this one. It came out on December 18, 2020.
