Bob Marley Slays The Demon With One Love: Weekend BO Review

Love heals, creates, and now conquers; at least, that’s the story of Bob Marley: One Love and the box office. The past year has been a victory ride for biopics, and this year manages to have the same effect as Bob Marley captures not only the box office but also the hearts of cinema fans.

And that love reflects in the box office numbers, as Bob Marley: One Love stands at the pinnacle, with Paramount managing to crack the market. The film grabs $13.7 million, though facing a 57% drop from the previous week, it still sits at the very top.

Overall, it also gathers $71.2 million in the domestic market and $120 million globally. The buzz is commendable, and with a making cost of around $70 million, the film shows promise to continue its strong box office run.

Sony and Crunchyroll’s collaboration, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — To the Hashira Training,” manages to reach the second spot, grossing $11.6 million over the weekend, showcasing that anime’s popularity is far from being over.

“Demon Slayer” outperformed its predecessor’s debut at $10.1 million but fell short of “Mugen Train,” which earned $21 million. These anime films mimic horror movie box office trends, front-loaded with international revenue dominance.

Then it is followed by Ordinary Angels, grossing $6.2 million, but as it holds a really low budget, the film is destined to make profits. The faith-based film with a low double-digit budget received an “A+” CinemaScore.

Despite a single-digit debut, 60% of its audience were female, and 91% were over 25, indicating strong appeal among older women. Directed by Jon Gunn, it’s based on the true story of a hairdresser aiding a widower and his daughters.

Next is Madame Web, trapped in her own web, and all the news portals’ reviews vouch about the sheer abomination that they call a Spider-Man spin-off. Madame Web grossed $6 million, taking the domestic total to $35.4 million, quite a small number for a Spider-Man film.

Then it is followed by Universal’s Migration, still ruling in the box office as Universal is definitely the new boss when it comes to animation. This week, Migration grosses $3 million, taking its domestic total to $120 million.

Argylle continues the flip journey as Cavill manages to lessen his credibility. The film grosses $2.8 million, taking its domestic total to a laughable $41.7 million.

Wonka is still fighting as Timothée Chalamet waits for Dune 2, with a minor question about both movies staying on the weekend box office. Wonka manages to gross $2.5 million over the weekend, taking the total domestic collection to $214.5 million.

Debutante Drive-Away Dolls also didn’t manage to crack the market, though acquired with $20 million, it grosses just $2.4 million, quite a fumbling start for the film. The film is promising, but on an OTT standpoint, the theatrical run might disrupt its potential.

And the last spot is occupied by The Beekeeper, which is moving in and out of the list, even being at the very top during January. The China market was really profitable for the movie, but in the domestic weekend, it managed to gross $2 million, taking the entire domestic collection to $63.1 million.
