Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee have made a great name with the recent blockbuster ‘Bohurupi’. The movie has broken many box office records and has become the most successful Bengali film of the past few years.
Now the filmmaker duo are coming with another film which has already caused some sensation on social media. The movie is titled ‘Amar Boss’ and stars Rakhee Gulzar with Shiboprosad himself. Rakhee Gulzar is making a comeback in films after a huge gap now and fans are excited to see her once more on a Bengali film.
The movie has been nominated for the Gandhi Medal of ICFT-UNESCO at the 55th International Film Festival of India. The award is given as a joint collaboration between the International Council for Film, Television, and Audiovisual Communication which is based in Paris, and of UNESCO. It honours films that promote and reflect the values preached and practised by Mahatma Gandhi.
The Hindi movie ‘Srikanth’ by Tushar Hiranandani and an Assamese title ‘Juiphool’ is also competing for the medal. And there are seven other titles from countries like Iran, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary etc.
If ‘Amar Boss’ finally manages to win this award, it will be a big news indeed. This year has been extraordinary for Shiboprosad and Nandita and the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal would be a cherry on the top. However, we hope an Indian film will bag the award at last.
