The ‘I For India’ Covid-19 charity concert that took place last evening was a smashing success. Initiated by Facebook, saw the whole of Bollywood putting a piece of themselves out there, to collect monies for the benefit of the poor and needy affected by the Covid-19 shutdown in India. The 4-hour event was livestreamed on Facebook.
The event also saw great attendance from popular Hollywood celebs. Some of the popular celebs in attendance in the concert were Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Madhuri Dixit, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali and Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Varun Dhawan, Dulquer Salmaan, Farah Khan, Farhan, Javed and Zoya Akhtar, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Kartik Aaryan, Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif, Parineeti Chopra, Rani Mukherji, Sania Mirza, Shabana Azmi, , Vicky Kaushal, Vidya Balan, Shruti Hasan and Vishal Bhardwaj.
The musical brigade was represented by A R Rahman, Sonu Nigam with son Nevaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan with sons Amaan and Ayaan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Rekha Bhardwaj, Ankur Tewari, Arijit Singh, Badshah, Divine, Gulzar, Hariharan, Mame Khan, Papon and Pritam.
The west was represented by Anoushka Shankar, Bryan Adams, Jack Black, all three Jonas Brothers, Nick, Kevin and Joe, with their spouses, Priyanka Chopra, Danielle Jonas and Sophie Turner, Russell Peters, Will Smith, Mindy Kaling and Lilly Singh.
Ranveer Singh sang ‘Doori’ from Gully Boy, Sonu Nigam sang Yeh Dil from Pardes, Suraj Hua Madham from K3G, and ended with the title track of Kal Ho Na Ho. Bryan Adams performed on his much-loved track, Shine a Light. Hrithik Roshan played the piano like a pro and sang Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan. Varun Dhawan performed to his Mile Sur Mera Tumhara version from his recent release Street Dancer 3D in collaboration with Shiamak Davar’s Institute of Performing Arts Global.
Shah Rukh Khan performed to Badshah’s ‘Sab Sahi Ho Jayega’, with the very welcome appearance of youngest kid, AbRam. His was the finale appearance in the concert, and he certainly brought the house down, if only virtually.
The concert also paid tribute to the recently departed Irrfan and Rishi Kapoor, led by filmmaker Mira Nair and Amitabh Bachchan, respectively.
All funds raised will go to the Covid-19 response fund managed by GiveIndia, for the benefit of those in India whose livelihood has been snatched by the Covid-19 shutdown in economic activities.
