In an interesting revelation, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh will reportedly make his small screen and OTT debut as he will host the Indian version (an adaptation) of the quiz show ‘The Big Picture’ (via Variety). Besides the show expected to be aired on the popular Indian entertainment TV channel Colors (owned by Viacom 18), viewers will also be able to watch it on Voot (online arm of Viacom 18) and Jio (led by business tycoon Mukesh Ambani) channels.
Somewhat reminiscent of Amitabh Bachchan’s long-standing cult show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, Ranveer Singh’s ‘The Big Picture’ will also feature the lifelines concept. In the show, the contestants will have to answer twelve visual-based questions that will be put up in increasing order of difficulty. The participants will be given three lifelines to enable them to successfully climb up the questions ladder in order to win a substantial amount of money.
The good thing about the upcoming quiz show is that contestants will also be able to play the quiz from the comfort of their homes. Regarding his small screen debut, an excited Ranveer Singh had stated that:
“Indian cinema has undeniably given me everything — it’s been a platform for me to excel and showcase my skills as an actor and I have been fortunate to get immense love from the people of India. Now, I look to connect with them in an extremely unique and engaging way through my television debut with COLORS’ ‘The Big Picture.’ The proposition of introducing India to a ‘now’ generation quiz show sealed the deal for me.”
Ranveer Singh made his Bollywood debut with the romantic comedy ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ and then went on to deliver blockbuster films like ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmavat’, and ‘Simba’, amongst other hit films. His upcoming cinematic ventures include Rohit Shetty’s comedy film ‘Cirkus’ and Kabir Khan’s ambitious sports film ‘’83’ that is based on the Indian cricket world-cup victory of 1983.
