There are very few movies that can accurately capture the problems and nuances of the typical middle class life in India, and in the genre comedy it is even more difficult. But here are some comedies that make you think when you laugh, these movies will make you relate to the characters.

Khosla Ka Ghosla! (2006)- Disney+Hotstar:

Directed by the genius filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee, ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla!’ is an incredible film that deals with the problems of a powerless common man in the guise of a pure comedy. The film stars actors like Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Vinay Pathak, Pravin Dabas and Ranvir Shorey. Anupam Kher plays Kamal Khosla, a middle class retired man who buys a small piece of land to make a house of his own but the land is confiscated by a thug. Khosla and his sons try strange techniques to get their land back. The film is funny and will make you think at the same time. Do not miss it at any cost.

Do Dooni Chaar (2010)- Netflix:

‘Do Dooni Chaar’ is directed by Habib Faisal and stars Rishi Kapoor in the lead role. The film also has actors like Neetu Singh, Aditi Vasudev, Archit Krishna, Rajesh Vivek, Akhilendra Mishra and Supriya Shukla in other important roles. The film tells the story of a typical middle class family. Santosh Duggal, the head of the family, is a school teacher in Delhi and he with other members of the family struggles to level up his family standards. A second job opportunity with much money awaits him but there are problems latent inside. Duggal wants to buy a car too and struggles to do so. Do Dooni Chaar is a wonderful comedy that deals with problems of the middle class in a very humorous and empathetic way and you should not miss it.

Filmistaan (2012)- Disney+Hotstar:

‘Filmistaan’ is written and directed by filmmaker Nitin Kakkar and stars the talented Sharib Hashmi in the lead role. Actors like Gopal Dutt and Kumud Mishra are in other important roles. Filmistaan tells the story of Sunny who works as a crew member in the film industry and aspires to be a superstar. He starts working with an American film company and a terrorist group kidnaps him, mistaking him for someone else. The film is incredibly funny and you will burst into laughter again and again throughout the film. It does not really tell the story of a family, it is rather the story of a single man, with dreams and with problems that many of us face.
