Boman Irani’s debut series, Masoom, has found its place among the top 10 most viewed shows of 2022 across all platforms. Helmed by Mihir Desai, the series is a production of Reliance Entertainment’s “Dreamers & Doers” company.
One of the latest reports from Ormax revealed that the show has successfully lured more than 16.4 million viewers. Additionally, it ranked first across all platforms for the first two weeks after its Disney+ Hotstar premiere. The public’s response to the series has been highly positive despite its mixed critical reception. Irani bestowed a standout performance in the show. Samara Tijori’s performance also received praise.
Irani said, “I believe in change and I think that change is the only thing that keeps me going, energised and happy. We don’t know where or how it will go. Our focus is that our character and work should reach as many people as possible and it should be loved by all.”
“Having said that, I am excited for ‘Masoom’ because it was my first web series, which allows for more screen time. You can see the full-fledged journey of a character,” he added.
Masoom takes its inspiration from a prominent Irish drama show, Blood. The six-parter revolves around a daughter who is ready to go to any length to seek justice for her deceased mother’s death. Things get uglier after she starts doubting her father. She begins believing that her father has fabricated her family’s real story. Also, she accuses him of hiding the truth about her mother’s death.
Apart from the leading man, the show consists of Samara Tijori, Manjari Fadnnis, Sarika Singh, Upasna Singh, Veer Rajwant Singh, Manu Rishi Chadha, and Akashdeep Arora.
Namit Sharma, Dreamers & Doers’ CEO, expressed his happiness about the show’s gigantic success via a recent statement: “We are delighted at the audience response to ‘Masoom’. As the first series out of our new studio, it’s been a dream debut. The love we’ve received for ‘Masoom’ will encourage us to do better work in the future.”
