Borderlands Remake Nabs The Original Scream Queen!

In case you guys missed it, the action adventure first player shooter video game, Borderlands is being made into a live action movie by Lionsgate. The announcement regarding the movie’s development was made by Developer Gearbox and Lionsgate back in February last year. But the movie’s pre production has been slow due to the coronavirus pandemic, but now there has been some recent developments – Golden Globe Winner and the original “Scream Queen” Jamie Lee Curtis is joining the star-studded cast of Borderlands.

Jamie Lee Curtis will be portraying the iconic Tannis, who is a scientist/ archaeologist who holds the literal key to the fabled ‘vault’. Curtis will be joining actors Kevin Hart who will portray mercenary/ rebel leader Roland and Cate Blanchett who portrays the Siren (a being with extraordinary powers), Lilith. Both Curtis’ and Blanchett’s characters have some past history, so it will be interesting to see both characters (and actors) interact on the big screen.

The movie is being directed by Eli Roth and he is excited to work with an icon like Curtis and he can’t wait to bring her brilliance and humor to the role of Tannis, according to IGN. The casting of Roland is a surprise to many, but the Borderlands game franchise has always been humorous in its own way, and casting a short funny man to play an imposing, seasoned warrior is one way to do it on screen.

Borderlands is a comic book stylized open world game, which has gone on to spawn two main sequels and a prequel alongside some spinoffs games. The first person shooter game is beloved by fans all over the world for its over the top style characters, loot driven multiplayer co-op game style and its very unique sense of humor. The Borderlands gaming franchise has gone on to earn a net revenue of over USD 1 Billion.
