‘Brahmastra’: Biggest Disappointment Or Much Awaited Game Changer!

Finally the highly anticipated Ayan Mukherji’s’ dream project ‘Brahmastra’ is in theatres and the verdicts for the same have been flooding the internet. While for some the film is great, many think otherwise including well know critics and the audience in general.

Team ‘Brahmastra’ released the official worldwide box office gross day 1 collection of 75 crores and is looking forward to a superb weekend ahead. Movie goers have been long waiting for a massive Bollywood blockbuster comparable to ‘RRR’ or ‘KGF’ and ‘Brahmastra’ is one such film for which the hopes are high.

And while the day 1 numbers look promising, unfortunately the ground reality appears quite different. The promotions and hype have made many approach theatres to catch the promised magnificence of ‘Brahmastra’ but the initial public response does not reflect a very positive picture for the future and it is most likely going to be difficult to sustain high numbers moving ahead.

Talking about the public response, there are a few notable things. Firstly, the VFX and the background music have received unanimous praise, followed by a similar reaction for the climax and Shah Rukh Khan’s portion in the film. But it’s everything in between that has killed the mood for audience.

A not so organic and some what forced love story between Shiva and Isha, an underwhelming build up of the characters and the whole ‘Brahmastra’ universe, a weak storyline and average performances from the stars are the aspects that did not go down well with cinema lovers and has led to major disappointment.

Moving into the weekend there will be a better clarity as to what will happen with ‘Brahmastra’. Will it turn out to be the biggest disappointment of Bollywood or will it be that much awaited blockbuster game changer it is touted to be?
