Netflix’s Bridgerton actress, Nicola Coughlan, will lead the upcoming drama-thriller, Love and War. The film’s story revolves around a woman who has to travel to Syria all by herself to find and save her abducted daughter.
Coughlan has gained worldwide prominence for playing Penelope Featherington in Netflix’s hit romance series, Bridgerton. Plus, she led the popular British teen sitcom, Derry Girls. Last year, she was seen alongside Margot Robbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. She played Diplomat Barbie in that one.
‘Love and War’ is based on the real-life story of an Irish woman named Sarah O’Meara, whose daughter was abducted by her father, and later smuggled to his native Syria. Sarah will try to not only survive the country’s civil war but also outsmart her abusive ex-husband to protect her daughter.
Lisa Mulcahy (best known for helming Lies We Tell) will direct the upcoming thriller, with Michael Garland serving as its producer. She will also co-write the script with Elisabeth Gooch. The film is inspired by Louise Monaghan’s hit novel, Stolen: Escape from Syria.
Nicola Coughlan has received acclaim from viewers and critics for her outstanding performance as Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton Season 3. The latest season has received a ‘fresh’ critic score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes based on over 50 certified reviews. Whereas its audience score stands at 88%, based on over 500+ ratings.
