After Netflix dropped a tease-teaser on Valentine’s Day, we’ve all been badly waiting for Bridgerton Season 2 Trailer and here it is. Netflix dropped the official trailer of the hit period-romance-drama’s second season on Wednesday which will premiere all episodes on March 25,2022.
The first season of Bridgerton explored the enemies-to-lovers trope and had the whole world drooling over the lead pair’s chemistry. The second season of Bridgerton on the other hand focuses on the love triangle between Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest son of the Bridgerton family, played by Jonathan Bailey and sisters Edwina Sharma and Kate Sharma played by Charithra Chandran and Simone Ashley respectively. It is reported that Phoebe Dyvenor will reprise her role as Daphne Bridgerton, but her now-husband, Simon Basset played by Regé Jean Page is not a part of the returning season.
The three minute trailer shows us glimpses of collision of desire and duty as Anthony courts Edwina and how her headstrong sister Kate’s protectiveness towards her sister brings herself and Anthony closer.
As Anthony Bridgerton pursues his quest for love, he declares that it is out of “the greatest love of my family that I am to choose a bride with my head, and not with my heart.” Kate believes Anthony doesn’t really love Edwina and his decision to marry her comes from his sheer will to fulfill his duty. As a turn of events quite expectedly both Anthony and Kate get drawn to each other.
“What happens when duty is in conflict with the heart’s true desire?” asks Lady Whistledown in voice-over. “Why, then there is the potential for a considerable scandal, indeed”, she answers herself. The makers of the show have definitely upheld the world and steamy reputation of it’s predecessor and also increased the anticipation by manifolds with another tease of a trailer.
Based on author Julia Quinn’s best selling ‘The Viscount Who Loved Me’, Bridgerton emerged as THE most watched English language series on Netflix worldwide and the second most watched series across all languages behind Squid Game since its release in December 2020.
The show has reportedly fetched viewership of nearly 82 million households and remained at number one position in around 76 countries. After the show’s massive success, Netflix instantly renewed the show for second season and then for third and fourth seasons respectively. Watch the trailer here:
