Brie Larson is all set to star in and executive produce another Apple TV+ series ‘Lessons In Chemistry’. The series that has received a straight-to-series order by Apple is based on the upcoming eponymous début novel by Bonnie Garmus, who is an author and science editor.
Larson will essay the role of Elizabeth Zott, who becomes a victim of gender stereotype and has to put on hold her dream of being a scientist. Apple’s ‘Lessons In Chemistry’ will be set in the 1960s, “When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab, she musters the ingenuity only a single mother has. She accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives – and the men who are suddenly listening – a lot more than recipes, all the while craving a return to her true love: science.”
According to Variety, ‘Lessons In Chemistry’ will be written and executive produced by Academy Award nominee Susannah Grant. Alongside Larson and Grant, the Apple original series will be executive produced by Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan via their Aggregate Films banner.
This is the second time Brie Larson is teaming up with Apple TV+ for a series. She is also involved in an untitled female-focused CIA drama that is based on the life of Amaryrillis Fox and her memoir ‘Life Undercover: Coming of Age in the CIA’. This series is right now on hold though due to the pandemic and also because Larson is preparing for ‘Captain Marvel II’.
