Amazon is looking to expand their Super-hero Cinematic Universe and has ordered a Spin-Off of their hit web-series ‘The Boys’. Amazon had already announced a third season for the hit Superhero show and has now backed it up with this new spin-off announcement. If both the series are being planned to be shot together, there is a good potential for possible crossovers.
The new series is set in the same world as ‘The Boys’ which will be centered around an American college – a college which is exclusive only for teenage Superheroes (Supes) and it will be run by Vought International. This unnamed spin-off is set to be an R-rated series which will give us a look into the minds of young adult Supes who test their moral, physical and sexual boundaries as they compete in multiple Hunger Games like competitions. The spin-off is set to be a Young Adult College series, packed with all the craziness and raunchiness of the original.
‘The Boys’ has been an incredible success since its release last year, and it’s viewership has only increased (by over 80%) since the release of it’s second season. This original hit series is based off a series of comic books of the same name created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
‘The Boys’ gives a different view on Superheros where they are as famous as celebrities and as influential as politicians, having their own personal PR team and revered as Gods by some. The satirical series takes a good, hard look at Superheroes who use their power for themselves and not the ‘collective good’.
‘The Boys’ is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
