Amazon Studios has signed a deal with playwright-actress Heidi Schreck for the film adaptation of her famous Tony-nominated Broadway play ‘What The Constitution Means To Me’. As per the deal, Schreck will create exclusive content for amazon prime video.
This latest film was shot at the Helen Hayes Theater by director Marielle Heller during the final week of the Broadway show in 2019. The show which was Pulitzer prize finalist, addresses themes such as women’s rights, immigration and domestic abuse.
Heidi plays the lead role in the play where she remembers her teenage days when she used to participate in constitutional debates. The play reflects how the Constitution has impacted women across four generations in Schreck’s family, with its own comic touch.
Heidi who also serves as the executive producer for the film alongside Heller, promised to donate a part of the proceeds from the film to the Broadway Cares COVID Relief Fund and to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund’s Voting Rights 2020 initiative.
The film has been produced for Amazon by Big Beach and Marielle Heller’s production company Defiant By Nature. The other executive producer include Robin Schwartz, Kyle Laursen, Peter Saraf, Marc Turtletaub.
‘What The Constitution Means To Me’ starring Heidi Schreck will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 16th October, 2020, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
