The digital world has grown so much that now not only can we watch anything, but we can listen to anything and everything. Earlier, listening was all about music and radio shows, but now thanks to brilliant apps, we have podcasts, shows, books, series that we can all listen to without doing anything. Now, adding to this exciting theme of listening to amazing stuff, we have a piece of great news for everyone.
Audible, one of the biggest producers and providers of original audio work in different languages, is coming forward with a brand new thriller. Titled “Buri Nazar”, an Audible original thriller, the show stars Supriya Pathak, Sayani Gupta, and Rithvik Dhanjani. The Audible original is penned by award-winning playwright Madhuri Shekar and has been adapted in Hindi by Noopur Sinha. The show which will feel like a regular family drama mixed with bits of comedy is eventually set to turn into an amazing supernatural thriller.
As for the story, it follows Supriya Pathak as Usha, a loving and doting mother, who like any other mother of a grown-up woman, is worried that her daughter won’t get married. Sayani Gupta, who essays the role of the daughter, Pallavi is a career-oriented and ambitious woman and has no time for thinking or worrying about marriage, even though she is “aging”. While Usha is hell-bent on getting her wedding fixed, every suitor Pallavi comes across ends up rejecting her. Usha is convinced that an evil curse was put on her daughter, while she was in the womb itself.
Putting her mother out of misery, Pallavi takes it upon herself and finds the perfect man in Sandeep, a young Indian American entrepreneur. Thinking that her mother would be excited to meet Sandeep, everything goes in the opposite direction for Pallavi as Usha believes, there’s something odd about Sandeep, something that isn’t right and can harm her daughter. Now, what exactly is wrong with her beliefs? Well, you need to listen to it to know more.
The story seems pretty exciting and interesting and all of these have been told in a series of phone calls and voicemails. Just like how we feel about “Buri Nazar”, the cast too felt it is a one of a kind experience for everyone. Veteran actress Supriya Pathak mentions how exciting it was for her to essay Usha and that too through such a medium. Sayani Gupta mentions how “Buri Nazar” is an extremely unpredictable story and she is excited to see how the listeners react to the story. Rithvik Dhanjani, who recently worked with Supriya Pathak on “Cartel” is all praises about the sound technology that was used to record this show, it was a mind-blowing experience for him and he is extremely happy with the mysterious character he has played for the show.
