While all the talk regarding Kdramas these days surround Netflix India and Disney+Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video is quietly making its leeway into Korean content. They’ve been licensing Korean Blockbusters like Hunt, Emergency Declaration, Hansan: Rising Dragon etc and now licensing ongoing kdramas too. The latest addition is ‘The Forbidden Marriage’. This buzzy sageuk (historical) is a romantic comedy and now streaming on Amazon Prime Video India as well. The show started airing from December 9th, 2022.
With two episodes down, ‘The Forbidden Marriage‘ is currently a huge sensation amongst kdrama enthusiasts.The show is set in a fictional period within the Joseon dynasty. It follows the story of King Lee Heon who has issued a marriage ban after the death of his crown princess seven years ago and scammer So-rang who claims that she is possessed by the late crown princess’s spirit. There is ample scope for comedy and entertainment in the show.
The Forbidden Marriage stars Park Ju-hyun, Kim Young-dae, and Kim Woo-seok in major roles. The 16 episode series is based on screenwriter Chun Ji-hye’s own web novel of the same title, which was also released as a webtoon. The show runs on MBC TV and now on Amazon Prime Video in India.
