The official trailer for Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s next film with Neha Sharma ‘Jogira Sara Ra Ra‘ has been released and it is a pain to watch such a wonderful actor like him to act in such mediocre comedies.
Nawazuddin has previously said that he works on commercial films so that he can effortlessly work on films that are closer to his heart so that he does not have to worry about the money. But for some time, we haven’t seen him in any good film or series so to speak.
It is not the first time that Nawazuddin is working on a film that does not do justice to his acting prowess. He has previously done films like ‘Freaky Ali’, ‘Motichoor Chaknachur’ and more. We indeed miss the actor who played Manto, Thakrey, Majhi or even Chand Nawab in Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
So is this the fall of a great actor? Has he reached the peak already and now there is only room for his stories to get worse. He will be seen as a transgender in the revenge drama ‘Haddi’. His look has evoked much curiosity and excitement among fans and it is one of the most significant upcoming films. But playing a transgender can provide great acting opportunities and can also get ruined by disastrous acting. We can cite the examples of ‘Super Deluxe’ vs ‘Laxxmi Bomb’. The woke factor in playing a transgender alone cannot save a film, it must be powered by the story and performance. Anubhav Sinha’s next film ‘Afwah’ is a slightly better one than ‘Jogira Sara Ra Ra’ but it too cannot go beyond the usual parameters of a mediocre wannabe social commentary.
Nawazuddin is not taking more risks, which is the biggest risk in the film industry. He is not letting his stories evolve, as Manoj Bajpayee and Neeraj Kabi. In order to keep up his legacy and the legendary status he once held, he needs to work in more challenging and necessary roles. We are hopeful that Haddi will prove to be one such film.
