The advent of OTT platforms has brought along with it a lot of joy for the modern viewer, but it has also brought along with it a lot of explicit content that includes Violence and at times even Nude scenes. When you look at it from this perspective, you can understand why the government has been asking OTT platforms to put some form of regulation code on their content as it can have a significant effect on the minds of the younger generation.
While it seems that the modern platforms have got us hooked to a certain uncensored format will the likes of Discovery Plus that has always striven to bring you educational and reformation content be good enough to survive?
Even though Discovery Plus is priced at only Rs299 per year and has a treasure chest of knowledge, we are not entirely sure whether the modern-day consumer will think that this is worth their money. They even have a collection of documentaries revolving around the famous club ‘Barcelona’ and some of its legends.
They have other sports documentaries that decipher the science and facts behind how the game is played. It is one of the most educational platforms and chooses a different path from the rest.
Though one can argue that Discovery Plus hasn’t done the best job when it comes to marketing even though they have stars like Bear Grylls and many other shows it makes you think whether the modern audience is ready to accept or rather pay for a subscription where most of the content is censored and can prove to be educative rather than pure escapism to its viewers.
