Can Prime’s Experiment With Waack Girls Be A Success?

Dance is one of the coolest forms of self-expression and so is filmmaking. And when the two meet, magic can be created.

After the success of the recent series on Prime- Citadel: Honey Bunny, Amazon Prime is out with yet another, Waack Girls.

Created by Sooni Taraporevala, the show revolves around six girls from Kolkata who come together to form a dance group, embarking on a journey of self-discovery and resilience. As they take on a new dance form, we witness their struggles and triumphs—both personal and shared—against the backdrop of societal expectations. This show could promise an empowering and inspiring story that could touch the hearts of many.

This format of series has never been made by OTT, as it offers unique glimpses into dancers’ struggles outside the typical reality show format. A similar approach was taken with Bandish Bandits, which portrayed the journey of two singers—one rooted in classical music and the other in pop. This show also highlighted the challenges faced by artists and resonated strongly with audiences making it a big hit.

But will this new experiment by Prime also manage to capture the audience like the previous shows did or will it fail?

There is only one way to find out—watch the show on Amazon Prime from November 22!
