Can The Sabarmati Report Hit the Bullseye this Weekend?

Remember how The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story set the internet on fire with their raw and pure storytelling of real-life-inspired events? That might be the case with Vikrant Massey’s upcoming drama thriller The Sabarmati Report.

After his most recent successful theatrical outing in 12th Fail, Massey aims for honesty as he delivers a cruel yet true story in his upcoming film releasing this weekend. The promotional campaigns for the film haven’t been worth noticing but the hype for the film is off the charts given the success and atmosphere created by Anupam Kher’s The Kashmir Files and Adah Sharma’s The Kerala Story.

Involving the horrific Godhra incident that shook the nation, the film aims to blur the lines between reality and drama. Vikrant can be seen as a daring journalist capturing incidents that happened at the Sabarmati Express in 2002.

It takes guts to deliver such sensitive topics on the big screen and by taking this risk, Dheeraj Sarna aims to leave a huge impact. The film had massive controversies in the making as stated by Vikrant Massey during the trailer launch regarding several death threats for Massey. This didn’t stop him from filming the film and with so many untold lies and faulty stories, the film solely depends on the performances these actors display.

The story might be unpleasant to watch but will have to be matched by positive word of mouth backed by strong connections from Raashii Khanna and Riddhi Dogra alongside Vikrant Massey. It all comes down to tomorrow as Ekta Kapoor brings a thrilling story inspired by true events which might set the tone for a sleeper hit.
