“Spiderman: No Way Home” was one of the most record-breaking movie that was garnered with a lot of nods, but for few fans, it came as an absolute heartbreak with the death of Aunt May at the hands of William Dafoe’s Green Goblin.
However the introduction of the multiverse means that Aunt May can reappear in some form of a variant, as expressed by Marisa Tomei on The Tonight Show. When asked about May’s demise and her considerable return by Jimmy Fallon, Marisa Tomei responded,
“Oh yes, there is a Multiverse. That was part of the secrecy originally, now a lot of people know. But the thing was, if anyone asked me about it, I don’t understand the Multiverse myself. Our wonderful director, Jon, and I’m like ‘And so, where am I now? Ok, well, can you explain it to me one more time?’”
“I would love to come back and be a part of that,” she continued. “There’s history there, too. May Parker hooks up with Ant-Man. Well, I mean, she’s a standalone character, of course, but there are more avenues to explore.”
Aunt May was basically subbed- in for Peter Uncle Ben in the latest sequel. Before passing away, she told Peter that “With Great Power, there must also come Great Responsibility.” This was the most rock bottom phase of Peter’s life and this incident completely transformed him, making him strong and responsible, finally evolving him from a Spider-Boy to Spider-Man.
Thus her returning would just completely throw this beautiful segment into trash. However reportedly Sony Pictures was considering of making a solo movie on Aunt May, so we never know. The fate of the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is absolutely uncertain.
