Captain America 4: Giancarlo Esposito May Play This Marvel Character

Giancarlo Esposito has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The Breaking Bad fame wished to join the prominent superhero franchise as a good guy. However, a new photo from the sets of Captain America 4 teases his villainous role in the film. As a result, everyone’s going crazy guessing who Esposito’s character is in the film. Although, there is one theory on the internet that has gained significant attention from the MCU fanbase.

According to this new theory, Giancarlo Esposito may play Jacob “Jake” Fury, aka Scorpio, in Captain America: Brave New World. Jake Fury is considered one of the most complex characters in Marvel comics. The character first appeared in the ‘Strange Tales’ comic book series (#159) in August 1967. Fueled by resentment towards his successful brother Nick Fury, Jake took a very different path in life, becoming a criminal and spy.

Jake Fury is best known for leading the Zodiac cartel as the masked villain Scorpio. Apart from this, he has worked with S.H.I.E.L.D’s counterpart agency, HYDRA. One of the stories from the comics reveals that the original Jake Fury died and was replaced by a Life Model Decoy (LMD), an advanced android replica. The real Jake Fury was actually working undercover for HYDRA.

Scorpio is a complex character in the comics. However, he also possesses a surprising depth. This complexity makes Giancarlo Esposito the perfect candidate for the character’s duality. In addition, his commanding presence on screen makes him believable as someone who can inspire fear or respect, depending on the situation. His performance as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad serves as an epitome here. Moreover, the nine-year age difference between Esposito and Samuel L. Jackson strengthens his odds of playing Nick Fury’s younger brother in Captain America 4.

Captain America 4 will arrive in theatres worldwide on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
