Big News for cinephiles. The awesome musical drama ‘Tàr’ is going to stream on OTT soon. It was available to watch on rent till now and after so long it will finally be streaming. ‘Tàr’ premieres on Netflix India on the 10th of July.
The movie tells the story of Lydia Tàr, who is considered a living legend and one of the finest conductors in a male dominated circle of classical musicians. She tries to master a melody that she wants to perform live: Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5. But her personal life and professional life are not totally in favour of her and many of her dark secrets are suddenly revealed. While Tàr goes through a terrible time, it is her step-daughter Petra who tries to be an emotional support to her.
‘Tàr’ was nominated for six categories at the 95th Academy Awards. Cate Blanchett won the award for Best Actress at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. The movie is a wonderfully well executed one and the performances are unbelievably powerful. Todd Field has given another masterpiece with an astounding screenplay.
Apart from Cate Blanchett, there are wonderful performances from actors like Noémie Merlant, Nina Hoss, Sophie Kauer, Julian Glover, Allan Corduner, and Mark Strong. The music is given by Hildur Guðnadóttir and the cinematography is handled by Florian Hoffmeister. If you have not seen ‘Tàr’ yet, now is your time.
