Catherine Zeta-Jones Joins Tim Burton’s Wednesday On Netflix

Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones (‘Chicago’, ‘Ocean’s Twelve’) and Luis Guzmán (‘Narcos’, ‘Out Of Sight’) have joined the cast of Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’, a live action comedy series. They will join Jenna Ortega (‘Yes Day’, ‘You’) who play the titular role of Wednesday Addams in the Tim Burton series.

While Zeta-Jones will be seen in the role of the iconic Morticia Addams, Guzmán will bring to life the debonair Gomez Addams. ‘Wednesday’ is an upcoming eight-episode coming-of-age comedy series created by Al Gough and Miles Millar, who also serve as showrunners for the series.

‘Wednesday’ is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday’s years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago – all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body.

Tim Burton who has had a history of telling empowering stories about social outsiders like Edward Scissorhands, Lydia Deetz and Batman makes his television directorial debut with Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’. Burton will also executive produce the show with Gough and Millar.

‘Wednesday’ is produced by MGM Television and the producers for the series are Andrew Mittman for 1.21 (‘The Addams Family’, ‘Alphas’), Kevin Miserocchi (Tee and Charles Addams Foundation), Kayla Alpert (‘Code Black’, ‘Up All Night’), Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania (‘RESPECT’, ‘Addams Family 2’), and Gail Berman (‘The Addams Family’, ‘Alphas’).

Further details about Wednesday’s release is yet to be revealed by Netflix.
