The official trailer of ‘Chaalchitro’ is out now and fans are quite astounded by it. It seems like the decision of postponing the movie was not very good after all. There are some big titles releasing this October like ‘Tekka’ and ‘Bohurupi’ and they will be the popular releases this year, at least this had been the idea so long. But the trailer has changed everything and it is very much possible that if ‘Chaalchitro’ were to release during puja it could give tough competition to these films.
‘Chaalchitro’ is a Gritty crime drama directed by Pratim Gupta and has a stellar cast with actors like Tota Roy Choudhury, Shantanu Maheshwari, Anirban Chakrabarti, Md. Ziaul Faruque Apurba, Raima Sen, Priya Banerjee, Swastika Dutta, Tanika Basu and Indrajeet Bose. This is Shantanu Mageshwari’s debut in the Bengali industry. Bangladeshi actor Ziaul Apurba is making his debut here as well.
The movie tells the story of four policemen in Kolkata who are trying to investigate a case of serial killing and their personal lives go through much turmoil because of this case. The background music of the trailer has an epic composition from ‘Mohishasur Mordini’ and that makes it more suitable for a Puja release.
The movie deals with themes of revenge, retribution and resurrection and it could have been promoted well during the Pujas. Pratim Gupta and the producers’ decision of postponing the movie because of their ethical stance on the R. G. Kar protests is commendable indeed, but it seems like a missed opportunity too.
