It was just last month that India’s eminent film production and distribution company Yash Raj Films aka YRF had announced its streaming arm YRF Entertainment’s first-ever OTT project – a web series titled ‘The Railway Men’ based on the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy. The series is being helmed by Shiv Rawail, features proficient performers like Kay Kay Menon, R Madhavan, Divyenndu, and Babil Khan, and is set for a 2nd December 2022 release.
In another exciting development, YRF Entertainment is already on to its next web series project which will be created by acclaimed writer Jaideep Sahni, as per a recent report by Variety. The series is being described as a heady relationship drama about love, ambition, and profession. This is not the first time Jaideep Sahni is collaborating with YRF.
Previously, the supremely gifted writer had lent his writing skills for several films under the reputed YRF banner. These include the 2005 rom-com ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, and Amitabh Bachchan and its sequel ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’. Moreover, he is also associated with YRF films such as ‘Aaja Nachle’ starring Madhuri Dixit, ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’ starring Ranbir Singh, ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ starring Sushant Singh Rajput, and, of course, the Shahrukh Khan starrer blockbuster sports film ‘Chak De! India’.
Outside the YRF brand, Jaideep Sahni had also written for two of maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s directorial films – the survival drama ‘Jungle’ starring Fardeen Khan and Urmila Matondkar and the cult crime film ‘Company’ starring Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi in the lead roles. With a writer of Jaideep Sahni’s caliber being involved with YRF Entertainment’s next web series undertaking, audiences can certainly expect some cinematic fireworks for this one.
