The official teaser for the upcoming musical thriller ‘Chamak’ is out now. The web series is a SonyLIV original and it tells the stories of the Punjabi music industry. ‘Chamak’ is created and directed by Rohit Jugraj.
It has been long since we got a proper musical thriller based on the music industry itself. ‘Chamak’ surely has the potential to bridge that gap. It tells the story of a rapper named Kaala who comes back to Punjab from Canada and tries his luck in music. He is mystified when he hears the story of the tragic death of Taara Singh, a singer who was killed in the midst of a packed audience.
The teaser starts with Taara Singh being shot in quite an incredible situation. The character of Taara Singh might be inspired from Amar Singh Chamkila, a folk singer who was shot dead at a very young age. Chamkila too is having his own movie directed by Imtiaz Ali.
‘Chamak’ has 14 artists singing a total of 28 songs. There will be enough groovy tracks to listen to for the year. The show will have Mohit Malik in the lead role and has singers like Asees Kaur, Mika Singh, MC Square, Gippy Grewal, Akasa Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan too.
‘Chamak’ is the story of a musician through the dark worlds of mafia, politics, feuds and honour killings. The teaser is beautiful, with good music and visuals, and kindles the hope that it will be one of the finest projects in this genre. The show will be streaming from the 7th of December this year.
